The SCT High School Theatre Leadership Program is designed to provide experience and training in the skills necessary to become a successful member of a collegiate theatre training program.  High school students considering studying theatre, music, or dance at the college level will gain practical hands-on experience to prepare them for their future training as well as a unique, individualized experience based on each students’ skill set and areas of interest.

Up to four high school students or recent high school graduates will be chosen as this summer’s Theatre Leaders.  Each Leader will be responsible for a number of duties, including assisting with theatre camps, assisting and/or participating in both summer children’s theatre productions, and giving tours to children’s theatre groups.

Theatre Leaders will receive a stipend, some flexibility in scheduling, and cooperation for high school or college credit (pending approval from the high school or college).  They will also gain practical experience that will be an asset to future endeavors as well as a great way to build their résumé.  Additionally, Theatre Leaders will complete orientation and training alongside the SCT Interns, and will work with an experienced mentor who will oversee and evaluate their work, as well as be there to offer guidance and answer questions.

The High School Theatre Leaders will need excellent communication and organization skills as well as the ability to have fun and serve as a role model to children.  Experience working with children is especially important, as is experience in theatre, music, or dance.  High School Leaders should possess strong time management skills, creative skills, and a positive attitude.
